This beginning sculpting class introduces students to the basics of working with clay and sculpture techniques. Students will learn about different clay bodies, sculpting tools, hand-building methods, firing processes, and glazing techniques.
This is a two day class that meets once a week for four hours each day. It is offered on Fridays, Saturdays, or Sundays from 9am-1pm or 2pm-6pm. All supplies, firing and glazing are included. This class explores clay sculpting as a tool for emotional expression, self-reflection, and personal creativity. This advanced class explores symbolism, texture, and distortion of the human body or facial expression to communicate meaning. We will focus on more detailed work, anatomy, expression, composition, complex forms, and developing a personal style. This will build confidence in creative risk-taking and practice reflection through art. You will complete a final piece that tells a personal story.
